Paint Refinement

Paint refinement, also known as paint correction, refers to the machine polishing process used to enhance and restore a vehicle’s paint. This service removes oxidation, light scratches, contaminants, and other surface imperfections by carefully buffing the clear coat. Paint correction can be performed on specific problem areas or the entire vehicle, depending on your goals. While it can eliminate light swirling, minor scuffs, water spots, and similar defects, it does have limitations and cannot replace the need for repainting when damage is severe.

Paint Refinement FAQs

  • Paint refinement is the process of machine polishing your vehicle’s paint to remove light scratches and minor imperfections. This is achieved by carefully buffing the affected areas using specialized pads and compounds.

  • Yes, vehicles often do not leave the factory with flawless paint. Additionally, paint can be damaged or exposed to various elements during transportation or dealership preparation and washing. For these reasons, we require paint correction prior to the installation of any ceramic coating

  • Yes, prior to scheduling your appointment, we will ask to review the car in person. Please ensure that the vehicle is clean prior to coming by for a consultation to ensure that we can view the bare paint.

  • No, paint refinement is meant to refine the surface of your vehicle’s paint. We will happily address chips/deep scratches with touch up paint at your request, but this option is not included by default. We can also facilitate the removal of small dents through a third party.

  • In many cases, we can significantly reduce or remove hard water spots; however, the process is time-consuming and depends on the severity of the damage. Using our specialized techniques and industry expertise, we assess each situation carefully to achieve the best possible results.

  • While a ceramic coating offers greater chemical resistance than your vehicle’s paint, it is still possible to stain the coating if contaminants are not promptly removed. Although the coating resists etching for extended periods, it is not completely impervious.

  • Generally, if a scratch appears white or gray in colour, or if you can feel it with your fingernail, it may be too deep to remove entirely. However, this doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. Our refinement process can often reduce its visibility and enhance the overall appearance.

  • We strongly urge against the use of any automatic car wash after the application of a coating. As your paint will be nearly flawless, touch car washes will surely cause damage that would need additional paint refinement to address. Touchless car washes may seem harmless; however, the chemicals used in touchless washes are very harsh and can drastically reduce the lifespan of your coating.
